Description
A GIZMO FOR NUDGING (Small Movement) OF DOB TELESCOPE (3/19/2026, Added GIF Video of Knob Tweaking and the Decorative-Ring (STEP File) for it) This uses 3-Planetary Gears, SunGear and RingGear to reduce the Rotational distance of the Driven-Wheel. One full Turn (by Hand) of the Knob will cause the Driven-Wheel to turn 1/4 of a Turn, thus enabling finer movement as is often desired. The Driven-Wheel will cause movement of a Dobsonian-Rotating-Base/etc by Stiction of the Driving-Wheel against the Base. The Interface between them is accomplished by a Rubberband (or, Silicone band cut from a Silicone Mat) . See below. Using a Spring will keep them in Contact and User can Disengage is desired. User can prefer to Not use the Spring, thus freeing the Base to turn freely - thus, User will need to Press the Knob toward the Base to Move it... Your preference. The Base: Three Options: Left or Right (the Finger/Spring side) and Make Your Own (shown in GIF video). Uses ORCA Slicer (similar to Prussa/etc) Assembly: File/Sand as needed - Smooth movement is easily attained using commonsense Filing and Sanding. Lubricate moving parts with very small amount of Petroleum-Jelly. For some Users, depending on their hardware, the Screw/Washers/Nuts are Optional. If needing/preferring to often remove the Knob and Insert, Don't use the Screws/Washer/Nuts. Some may need to only remove the Knob and not need removing the Insert. Printing: Both STEP and STL files are provided Print Parts, especially Gears at 100% Infill. Adjust Print-Height is needed Some Parts can be modified as Whole and/or manipulated into individual Parts in Slicers. Especially handy if wanting, for example, to only lengthen the Height of the RingGear, Wheel...etc. Consider Seam-Alignment (Random or Aligned... will affect amount of Fileing/Sanding and Smoothness Material - doesn't matter File/Break Elephant-Foot-Edge (the enlarged portion that gets squished into the Print-Bed. Parts: The Pins for the Planet gears are 3mmX10mm. The holes for them will provide a slight Friction-Fit and need to be Pressed into the holes. The Screw/Nuts are M2 (or similar size) I prefer these inexpensive Rubberbands but, Silicone strips cut from the Mat is also very good (better Stiction), if wanting to fuss with it. I've done many but prefer the Rubberbands... Rubberband: Size#94, On Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZQFVJG8?ref_=pe_125775000_1044873430_i_fed_asin_title Silicone Mat: On Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NZ669PP?ref_=pe_125775000_1044873430_t_fed_asin_title&th=1 Glue: Typical Crazy-Glue, or other as preferred
