Description

The original OG Star Tracker v2 is a very interesting project. But, unfortunatelly some of the parts are a little weak to be 3D printed especially with normal materials like PLA+ or PETG (I don't think the oringally recommended ABS/ASA filaments are stronger than PLA+ by the way). Also, unfortunatelly, the v2 models on the original model page is mixed with the v1 models and that alone makes it very hard to sort things out, decide what to print etc. So, here I upload my modified parts along with the originals. The parts list can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qvCMmTRBW0JHOP84eAs1xobw3B2lIIvTDRk8-3ek8uY/edit?usp=sharing My modifications as of 2025-03-22: Bottom Assembly v2 “arc-right” has numbers in correct orientation added single color versions for “arc-right” and “arc-left” where the numbers are deeper. Gearbox V2 fixed orientation of the “gearbox-part-3” “tightener” is modified to be more stronger Added "doors_windowed" which allows you to see the gears in action for debuging purposes. M5 rod assembly V2 “bearing-holder” made stronger Top Part V2 modified “big-pulley” not to have holes as the hexagonal pattern is not optimizing the strength nor making it lighter, and with this modification it prints 2x faster! Polar Alignment V2 Added “polar-scope-holder-eq5_for_SkyWatcher_PT5C.stl” as the hole in the original polar alignment scope was too large for this scope. Extra Parts Added STL for the “KU5025” bushing/sleeve, so instead of buying this you can print your own as this is just a spacer. Sand it with 120, 240 and 320 grit sand papers and lubricate it with a silicon lubricant before installing. Please note that the original designer is recommending to use Scarf Joint Seams and Seams Positions set to Random, I didn't do that on my printed parts, as I have never used Scarf Joint Seams before and did not optimize it for my printer, so I had to do a lot of sanding for the parts that are working against each other to eliminate the seams. Keep an eye on this model as I'll keep updating it as I have not finished modifying it. 2025-04-18: Uploaded the forgotten “M5 rod assmbly V2”
