Description
Parametric Slug Barrier Collar This is a fully parametric protection ring designed to keep slugs and snails away from your young plants and seedlings. It features a conical main body and a sharp-toothed outer skirt that acts as a physical barrier. How it Works The collar is designed to be printed spikes-up (as generated by the script) to eliminate the need for supports. In the garden: Use the collar inverted (spikes pointing down toward the soil). The angled skirt combined with sharp V-shaped teeth creates a difficult physical obstacle that slugs cannot easily navigate, protecting your lettuce, strawberries, and other vulnerable plants. Key Features Fully Parametric: Easily adjust height, diameters, and wall thickness via OpenSCAD. Two Skirt Modes: Angle Mode: Define the skirt by its slope angle (e.g., 45°). Diameter Mode: Define the skirt by a specific total outer diameter to ensure it fits your print bed. Calculated V-Teeth: The script uses dynamic math to ensure teeth are perfectly spaced and sharp, regardless of the chosen diameter or tooth count. Print-Friendly: No supports required. Recommended Print Settings Material: PETG , ASA , or ABS is highly recommended for UV resistance and outdoor durability. PLA is not recommended as it may warp or degrade in direct summer sunlight. Perimeters: Use 3–4 perimeters (walls) for optimal strength and to ensure the teeth are solid. Layer Height: 0.2mm to 0.3mm (standard draft settings work great). Infill: Not necessary if your wall thickness and perimeter count are set correctly.
