Description
This is my silliest design yet, but fun to play with anyways :-) It is a collapsible sword (or lightsaber, or magic wand), that is small enough to fit in a pocket. After printing, inset the 5 parts of the blade into the hilt and close it with cap from a normal PET bottle. The cap prevents the blades from falling out. If you wish, you can use a second bottle cap to close the other side of the hilt. This prevents the blades from extending and makes it convenient to bring the sword with you (e.g. in a backpack). I tested the sword with different caps from PET bottles available where I live, but don’t know if all the bottles internationally use the same cap designs. If your caps don’t fit or if you don’t have any available, I also included a STL so you can print compatible caps yourself. Print Setting recommendations: Layer height: 0.25mm (don’t bother printing smaller as you won’t really notice a difference in detail) Perimeters: 2 Solid top/bottom layers: 4 Infill: 15% (only matters for the hilt of the sword) Support: no Brim: Outer brim recommended for adhesion Post Processing: Make sure to cut or file away the brim or elephant foot nicely. This makes it easier for the blades to collapse. Update March-23, 2024: Added an alternative hilt and cap design. Update July 4th, 2024: Changed the license to allow for commercial use.
