Description

I was experiencing issues running Octoprint on my raspberry pi Zero 2W. The entire install would break randomly, requiring me to reflash a brand new image of octoprint every so often. I eventually traced the issue to overheating caused in part by the processing requirements of running Octoprint on the Zero and the heat generated by the printer bed. I made some modifications to my favorite Pi Zero 2W case to allow both passive and active cooling… The original design supports use of 20x20 micro fan, but this design does not have enough clearance to install a heatsink on the cpu. I reworked the case and pi holder to accommodate the more readily available 30x30 5V mini fans available from many retailers: Amazon.com: MakerFocus 2pcs Raspberry Pi 4B Fan DC Brushless Cooling Fan 3.3V 5V Heatsink Cooler Radiator Connector Separating One-to-Two Interface for Raspberry Pi 4/ Pi 3/3B+ and Pi Zero/Zero W or Other Project : Electronics Mounting the fan on top of the case also allows a heatsink to be installed directly on the cpu without interference from the fan. I also modified the back access panel to allow easy access to the to the header pins. The Fan uses 3mm Bolts to mount to the Pi Zero Mount. 2.5mm bolts are still used from the original design to assemble the rest of the case.
