First off - MZ4250 is amazing and a gift to an unfathomable amount of TTRPG tables. Who else can claim that they make 1000s of free, high quality tabletop minis every year? If you like MZs models and or this remix (only possible because of his great work!) you can support him over here: https://mz4250.com/ Second thing - I like Guards. I think that every DND party should have an encounter with some guards from time to time but I find that the CR1/8 statblocks kinda sucks making them push overs. So with this in mind what I like to do with my campaigns is to have swarms of guards. When the rogue gets caught stealing, instead of 2-4 guards approaching the party have 2-4 swarms of guards show up - now they're an outright terror. Throw in some captains (Izek!) or casters as backup and you have a very deadly encounter all because that pesky rogue couldn't keep their hands out of the cookie jar! So for this remix I've added a crossbow variant and spear / thrusting variant to the mix. For the crossbow I was hoping to borrow an MZ4250 bow from another model but couldn't find one so I remade the crossbow from his bandit w/ ranged crossbow to the best of my ability. The arrow and crossbow and combined files are attached here. Because I use 3mm baseplates and MZ uses different ones I've attached both styles here as well. The original guards weren't manifold when I imported them so I remeshed and rexported them - otherwise they maybe wouldn't be in this post. I also took the liberty of removing the baseplates from them to make them easier to put into swarms. For printing on FDM - flip them onto their back at -90 degrees on the X-Axis. For Resin I've included far too many pre-supported files. My pre-supporting method is done via Elegoo Satelite where I repair the model then flip it on its back -45 degrees on the X-Axis then I auto presupport with the recommend settings To make a swarm - print out the set of 4x guards here and put them all onto a 50mm baseplate. I've included a statblock but feel free to tweak it as you see fit. Keep in mind that swarms are resistant to standard damage types - you can make them resistant to everything if you'd like. Also I don't have it on the statblock but you could reduce their damage output to 1d10 / half when they're bloodied. Up to you. Nobody is going to mess with the town guards in your campaigns again!
