Description

This is a remix for the motorbox for the Automatic Filament Rewinder made by Warpster . This motorbox holds 2 nema 17 motors, instead of one, driving the axis that winds up the spool. Since I was having trouble winding with one stepper motor, it just seemed not to be strong enough, I adjusted the model for the motorbox so it could hold 2 stepper motors. It was a lot stronger and I did not have the skipping of the stepper as it did with one motor. You will need a 50mm rod as axis for the second stepper, a coupler, another nema 17 motor, 2 more 608 bearings, and a “ dual Z axis breakout board ”. See the link for an example. You can also get the breakout board at Aliexpress.com or other sellers. The breakout board will split the signal for the 2 stepper motors making them move both equally fast. Make sure to connect them correctly so they will spin in the same direction. You do not need any new holes to mount the motorbox. It uses the same holes as the original version. If you have a axis of 50mm there will be no need for a hole in the board. The rod will rest nicely on the bearing. Just make sure it does not scrape against the board. It could get hot. Don't forget to adjust the stepper vref. Since there are 2 motors now you can crank it up higher. I found on the internet that it can be double. I did try that and the temperature does not get too hot.
