Description
The Arundel and Windsor Castle were ocean liners built for the Union-Castle Line for the Southampton to Cape Town service, originally laid down in 1915, they were delayed because of The First World War. RMS Arundel Castle had her maiden voyage in 1921, and RMS Windsor Castle in 1922. In 1937 and 1938 RMS Arundel and Windsor Castle received a major refit, removing their 4 funnels and replacing them with 2 larger ones. They also received raked bows, which lengthened them from 201 meters to 209 meters. During The Second World War, RMS Windsor Castle was sunk by German aircraft off of Algiers, Algeria, the 23 of March, 1943. RMS Arundel Castle survived and was scrapped in 1959, in Hong Kong.
