Description
Introducing the Rokaford25, a 2.5" cinewhoop made for a variety of consumers ranging from hobbyists and enthusiasts to inspectors and public safety. Assembly hardware needed: 23mm standoffs M2x6, x8, and x25 bolts M2x4 plastic standoffs M2 locknuts M2 rubber washers M3x16 bolts Electronics and Powertrain: MicoAir743v2 45A AIO - https://amzn.to/4lBJJQd Walksnail Avatar HD Pro MicoAir MTF-01 - https://amzn.to/4rFXyP4 FlashHobby 1408 3650kv Motors (1404 motors will work too) D63 Props (3 blade or 5 blade works) SpeedyBee LED Strips - https://amzn.to/4blqsiw (peeled off the connectors and soldered the wires) TrueRC LHCP Stubby u.FL to SMA Extension Coax (>2 inches) Auline 4500mah 70A Lithium Ion - https://www.getfpv.com/auline-21700-s70-4500mah-14-8v-70a-4s-li-ion-battery-xt60.html Rokaford Gimbal System - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7317155 This frame has a 20x20 mount pattern, made for the MicoAir743v2 45A AIO and the Walksnail Avatar HD Pro. However, the body is intentionally widened to accommodate different mount patterns and even full stacks with creative mounting. No need to stick with 23mm standoffs (this was designed alongside the Rokaford Gimbal System). Taller standoffs increase the distance between props and frame and will introduce some air disturbance and frame vibration. Frame has slots for 4mm zip ties. RX can be zip tied anywhere. I am flying this on ArduPilot to take advantage of the optical flow and rangefinder. The optical flow mount is designed for the MicoAir MTF-01. Or, just ditch the optical flow if you intend to fly Betaflight or go full send in acro or angle regardless. A well tuned bird on this frame in ArduPilot has super clean pre-filter noise and extremely low vibration levels (~5 m/s/s on each axis). With the 4500mah lion pack, I am getting 10-15 minutes flight time, dependent on the flying style and conditions. Takeoff weight is about 585g, of which the battery accounts for 291g of that. With this being a pusher style, finding a good solution for battery mounting was honestly the hardest part. So the battery plate bolts into the top frame and you strap in from there. The battery mount has held up in some nasty crashes during torture tests. I printed the frame in PA6-CF on a Bambu X1C using 3 walls and also an inside+outside brim for optical bed adhesion. The frame is fairly thin so it's not indestructible. It will take a beating though... and it's 3D printed so just print a new frame :) The only thing I printed in TPU were the VTX mount and masts (actually in the photo the masts were printed in PA6CF as a test and they've held up nicely). The mast will not fit the SMA or the stubby so just cut it short in the slicer or remix it to your liking. This is v3 of this frame design and I will continue to post updated files as the iterative development continues. See it in action: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DU3voR8AR94/
