Description
Rook 2020 Scalable MK2 This is my mod for the Rook 2020 to make it fully scalable to any size. (within reason, there is a limit to what the 2020 extrusions can do..) This also adds a triple belted geared Z-axis Here is a video on my MK1 version! To determine your extrusion and rail lenghts, add 150mm to your bed-size and 100mm to your desired Z-height This uses corner-cubes, not 3-way joints! For for a 200x200x200 build volume, your extrusions would be 350x350 for top and bottom frame and 300 for Z. X-axis extrusion and rail is 50mm shorter than your top frame. Please note that this scale does give you a lot of extra movement on both X and Y, this is meant to accommodate mods like klicky, wipe-brushes, nozzle-probes etc. Bed is made up of 2x extrusions the same length as your top frame and 2x the same as your top-frame - 150mm. Here is a Frame Calculator to help you find your frame size Supports MGN9C for the Z axis and X axis, and MGN12C or H for Y-axis. In theory, the X axis can use any rail to adapt to your desired printhead. MK1 update included a geared Z axis. Ive made 2 versions, one with 20t pulleys and one with 12t pulleys. 20t pulleys should be fine for most builds up to the 250x250 bed size, any larger and I would go with 12t. MK2 update adds the new belt path from the 2020 MK2 and allows you to remove or lower the front extrusion. If you already have the MK1 update, the Parts you need to print are the Green ones in the picture. Remember to set your rotation distance and gearing it the config! 20t pulley: rotation_distance: 40 , gear_ratio: 4:112t pulley: rotation_distance: 24 , gear_ratio: 6,66667:1 This supports all the Rook and Rook 2020 toolheads like the Sentinel and the Rookery and all of its derivatives. You mighty want to look in the Official Rook mod collections to see if you find something you like. I highly recommend the Dragonburner for this! Here is a link to my BOM , please be aware, this is a scalable design and adaptation may be required, so get more fasteners than you think you need. Parts that needs to be printed more than once is marked, use only the M4 or M5 idler versions according to your hardware, and note the 20t or 12t pulley parts. The A/B motor mounts needs to be downloaded from the original Rook 2020 MK2 printables page. I do however recommend my double shear mod on larger builds. Just a small note, this printer is the perfect place to use multiple MCU's if you have them lying around. only X/Y motors need sensorless homing, so you can run the 3 Z motors on most boards. Im running this on a SKR 1.4 and a Ender 3 board. Big bonus is the extra outputs for lights, fans, heaters etc. (Printer in picture is a 350x350x400 printvolume design.) Configs can be found on my github, however, they must be considered examples, as this design is extremely part-dependent! Like my work? Support me on Ko-fi!
