UPDATE 2025-April-26: Improved Version 2 available After pelletizing a significant amount of filament, I identified several opportunities for improvement. As a result, I’ve created Version 2 of the pelletizer remix. First of all, thank you for your feedback — I’ve taken it into consideration as well. Improvements in Version 2 compared to the first Remix: The small gear has been redesigned so that it can now be secured with at least one grub screw, with the option to add a second one. Consequently, the endplate also had to be modified, as I wanted to retain the second bearing for the router bit. Due to this change, the shaft length for attaching the drill may no longer be sufficient. To solve this, I’m now using a universal joint to connect the drill. After pelletizing dozens of meters of filament, the edge where the filament is cut began to wear out. To address this, I added a replaceable part (anvil) that can be swapped easily once worn, and can be printed from a harder material. This allows you to keep the rest of the pelletizer in PLA. I printed the anvil from polycarbonate (PC), and so far, it shows no signs of wear. Please note: This remix was designed specifically for 1.75 mm filament. If you want to pelletize 2.85 mm filament, please use the original design or a different remix. Printing instructions I recommend printing with thick walls. I've used PLA with 5 walls. An infill of 30% is recommended too, just to ensure structural integrity. Required Hardware for this remix → version 2 ← (differs from the original design and version 1) The following hardware was used for the build, variations are ok, but may need modification of the parts: 19mm router bit: (German source) https://www.contorion.de/p/stier-buendigfraeser-schaftdurchmesser-8mm-c10000035?diameter_mm=19&working_length_mm=25&simple_sku=74934771 (comes with a 698 bearing. I case you are using a different router bit, you will probably need a 698 bearing) 608 bearing x 1 OR 698 bearing x1 (second bearing for the router bit) There are two versions of the end-plate-a part available. Since the 698 bearing is narrower, I recommend using this version. However, you’ll most likely have a 608 bearing lying around anyway. RM115 bearing x 5: https://amzn.to/3NjZtYm MK7 hobbed gear: https://amzn.eu/d/fuAPUCb M3 Inserts x 8 (7 x for center plate, 1 x for small gear) M5 x 20mm bolt x 1 (idler spring) M5 x 60mm bolt x 1 (large gear to hobbed gear) M5 x 25mm bolt x 1 (medium gear) M5 lock nuts x 2 M5 washers x 6 (possibly more if you need to use them as spacers) M3 x 20mm bolts x 4 (end-plate-A through to centre plate) M3 x 12mm bolts x 3 (end-plate-B through to centre plate) M3 washers x 7 M3 grub screws x 1 (small gear to router bit shaft) Power drill to drive the pelletizer 8mm universal joint (optional) 8mm bolt to attatch the drill (optional)
