Description
I really liked the idea of Termiman's Pinecil case, but there were a several changes I wanted. These are my changes. Moved around the accessory storage to keep the soldering iron on the right as I am right handed. Made the brass sponge holder removable to make it easier to empty of debris. Left the flux section open to be customizable via foam for either a syringe or a pen. Added extra tip storage. Removed USB cable storage. I am often traveling with one anyway. Added half-pin hinge so that the two sides can be separated to more easily set up my work area. Magnet holder for Pinecil sleep mode mod ( https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/Pinecil_Hall_Effect_Sensor ) Additional parts needed: 1 608 bearing 4 6x3 magnets (2 for the latch and an optional 2 for the iron holder to trigger sleep mode (see below) 2 4D nails for the hinges The soldering iron holder uses a 608 bearing and uses 6x3 magnets (1 or 2 depending on the strength required for your iron) to trigger sleep mode in the Pinecil. Sleep mode requires a mod ( https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/Pinecil_Hall_Effect_Sensor ) to add a hall effect sensor in order to detect the magnets. For the half pin hinge, I used 4D finishing nails. I cut the back off and filed the tip to be rounder and safer before pressing them into the case. Additional 6x3 magnets are used instead of a latch.
