Description

The plastic burner control knobs for my gas stove have cracked where they attach to the burner control shaft. While still functional, they easily fall off or detach from d-ring insert, making cleaning a pain. There are a variety of replacement knobs available but they're not cheap. This is a remix based on the excellent Drilling Bounding Ring / Depth Stop model by mishkin2. When I saw this design, it inspired a solution to reinforce the cracked plastic and hopefully delay having to replace the knobs. Given the limited space inside the knob and the hardware I had on hand, this remix has the following changes: The height of the clamp is reduced to 10mm. The internal and external diameters are changed to 12mm and 24mm respectively. The gap width is slightly expanded to 2mm to allow for greater contraction from 12mm internal diameter down to approximately 11.5mm. The screw size is changed to M3x12mm to better fit the smaller part. An insert for a small washer was added. The insert for the nut was changed to hexagonal (what I had on hand). A parameteric design file based on the original is also provided with these changes. For print settings, I used an adaptive layer height around 0.16mm although 0.20mm should work just fine. I also used a 15% infill with the cross pattern to give some squish in horizontal directions.
