Description
Super quick and dirty protective shroud for the ZK-1001UM, a mono mini amp based on the TPA3116D2 (9-24V input). I found this to be a very high value all-in-one amp, it just needed some sort of protective structure around the PCB to be usable beyond the initial testing. It's a very simple case, but it does the job well and does not obscure the essential ports / terminals. 2 x M3 bolts needed for mounting (5-15mm length is fine). Link to amazon listing (I left a review) The built-in Bluetooth, USB DAC, and adjustable preamp circuitry make this thing pretty compelling for a wide range of use cases. With a properly capable power supply, this thing can get almost any real speaker up to room-shaking SPLs without a hint of distortion. I'm impressed by that alone. But the DSP features take it to another level. I should note, the process of downloading and installing the PC software is not for the faint of heart. It's very obscured and sketchy. Honestly, whether this application is covert Chinese spyware is still up for debate. But, functionally, I was pretty blown away by the insane set of features and customizability. See the photos for a sampling - this is engineer level stuff, much of which goes straight over my head despite having some cursory training in this field. This can be used to great effect in applications where highly specific EQ and effects are needed.
