Description
When I printed the enclosure I also installed Doug's original design, but I wanted to mount the spool closer to the printer for compactness and ease of use (like the design from AidenAJ). Also I noticed that with very tightly wound filaments it sometimes had bidden for a few seconds before “popping” free. So in order to improve it I took the latest version from Doug's spool holder and remixed it in Fusion to move the spool holder down and behind the PTFE tube. Unfortunately I only had the mesh to work with so my design is a bit rough but so far it's looking promising. If I have some other ideas or problems pop up I will try to update it. For the filament sensor part go to Doug's design! For printing supports are necessary unfortunately but it should be too much of a challenge. I was thinking of cutting the design up and adding screw holes but I didn't want to weaken or complicate the design. Make sure the spool holding part is laying flat with the build plate, otherwise you are wasting time and filament with unnecessary supports (in Orcaslicer after importing, it was ever so slightly tilted for me) .
AI Analysis: This is a spool holder designed for printers, specifically to hold and guide filament spools during . It features a blue plastic bracket that secures the spool and a black base that attaches to the printer. The holder ensures smooth filament feeding to prevent jams and improve reliability.
