Description

This is Level 6 of the Sierpiński Snowflake Fractal Pyramid , adding another layer of recursion to the series and producing an even more intricate geometric structure. The model represents one half of the full form. It can be displayed as a hexagonal pyramid on its own, or combined with a second half to create the complete hexagonal bipyramid. As the recursion deepens, the internal geometry becomes increasingly detailed, making the piece interesting both as a display model and as an exploration of fractal form. A dedicated base is not included yet. In the meantime, a simple hexagonal stand with enough clearance inside for the tip of the pyramid should work for display. I plan to make a proper base when I can. Note: This model is sized for a 0.4 mm nozzle on a Bambu Lab H2S. I do not recommend printing it at the uploaded scale with a 0.2 mm nozzle, and it is not meant to be scaled down unless you are using a smaller nozzle. In my 0.2 mm test, the print stuck too aggressively to the build plate and broke during removal even after extended cooling, so use a glue stick or other release agent if you try it. The model also requires a good bit of time, and a reasonably capable PC to slice. On my laptop, slicing took over an hour. At the uploaded scale, each half has an estimated print time of about 3 days, 16 hours, 36 minutes (88.6 hours) and uses about 1338 g of filament. (If you plan to print both halves, expect roughly double the total print time and filament usage. Also note that pausing a vase mode print can often leave visible imperfections because the model is made from a continuous single wall. I try very hard to avoid pausing vase mode prints for that reason. Since this print requires more than one standard 1 kg spool, I printed it using a 3 kg external spool. On my H2S, that setup repeatedly triggered pause/errors, so I had to bypass the normal PTFE path and feed through the TPU entry area to keep the print going. I am not necessarily recommending that method, just sharing what I had to do for this print. A better solution may be using an AMS with matching spools so the printer can continue feeding without an interruption. My successful print (both halves) used most of a 3 kg spool of Polymaker Matte PLA in Fossil Gray. Here are the print settings for FDM printers - Please note: this model should not be scaled down unless you’re using a nozzle smaller than 0.4mm , such as 0.2mm or 0.25mm. It can, however, be scaled up for larger prints/printers. Layer Height: 0.16mm Vase Mode: Turn on Vase Mode and disable/uncheck “smooth spiral” if you see the option in your slicer. Infill: 0% (This is activated by default in Vase mode) Supports: None Slice Gap Closing Radius: 0.01 (This step is mandatory. The model may not slice properly if you don't do this.) Resolution: 0.005 (This step is also mandatory. The model may not slice properly if you don't do this.) Skirt: Enable a skirt for the first layer. Optional feature: You can set the bottom shell layers to 0 in your slicer to reduce print time and reveal an intricate pattern on the underside. (This feature is already enabled in the included 3MF.) If you find yourself having trouble, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to help!
