Description

This is a portable, battery powered 12volt 92mm fan such as those commonly found in PCs. Why 92mm specifically? Because it gives a good balance between noise and airflow, and my goal was to create something that gives you the best breeze with a pleasant noise profile while being somewhat portable. And as a bonus, 92mm fans are commonly found in tech and salvage and this gives you an option to use an old fan you might have sitting around from an old OEM PC or CPU cooler or whatever. The handle is sized for an 8x AA-battery holder such as this . Please use rechargeable batteries! You can probably fit some power banks in there too in case you have a 5volt fan. You may notice that the design is pretty basic and I haven't mentioned power buttons or fan speed control yet. That's because there is none. Instead, I have simply left around 4cm of empty space in the handle for you to figure it out. Why? Because I design around parts I have easily available and they may not match what you have easily available. So yes, this does require a teensy bit of DIY spirit. Don't know anything about electronics? Take your battery box and connect black and red wire to the black and red wire of your fan and now your fan goes. Tuck the cables in the handle and there you go. Further hardware requirements include screws or bolts to connect the fan to the guard grill and to connect the grill to the handle. The grill has a little peg that tells you which corner goes to the handle. You can use standard PC fan screws or 3-4mm nuts and bolts. For those who do not care as much about portability, I have also included a downscaled Noctua airflow amplifier model. Efficiency in this scale not scientifically tested. I also recommend you check my fancier portable fan design .
