Description

What is this? This is a mount for the BTT Eddy for the stock Sovol SV08 toolhead/shroud. Please note: The BTT Eddy needs to be removed from it's casing to fit. Why another/different mount? I had to remake the design because with me the BTT Eddy would not work with other mounts and would give an error after calibration when trying to home ( Error during homing z: Eddy current sensor error ). It was sitting too low with the other mounts which would cause all kind of issues.. Difference The main difference between this one and the other mounts is: this one sits 2-2.5mm higher and more inside the shroud. This way no modifications are needed to the shroud and being inside the shroud should also protect the pcb board in case of a failed print. It uses 2x m2.5 screws to secure the probe. It keeps the button and led clear for better access. V3 Update : Published a different version of the mount (consists of 2 pieces you glue together, CA will do fine it doesn't need to hold much). This uses a different position to keep the mount from rotating. Because it sits higher the little tab at the bottom was no longer possible, thus we start using a different hole for this. The hole is behind the hotend a bit to the left. Needs tiny supports for the pin on the alignment piece. NEW! SUCH LOW, MUCH AWESOME - for Eddy-ng Due to ‘popular request’ I have decided to make a lower version (v3.x.x.LOW). This one sits 2mm lower which places the probe EXACTLY within BTT specs (2-3mm above the nozzle). You may or may not have to make some adjustments to your shroud to fit the sensor at that position. Please calculate with me: with the V3 (non-low) version the probe sits 6mm above the nozzle, we can subtract 1.2mm because we have removed the casing (the casing adds 1.2mm in height, BTT measures to the bottom of the casing) which makes it 4.8mm above the nozzle. LOW; 4.8mm - 2mm = 2.8mm. Fully within specs! Both the higher and lower version should work just fine with the standard Eddy implementation. Start with the ‘higher’ version and if it doesn't work give the lower one a try. However, with ‘ Eddy-ng ’ (for tapping the buildplate) you need to use the LOW version. Printing Printed in ASA with a .4mm nozzle, .2 layer height, 3 walls, 4 top, 3 bottom, 20% infill (cross hatch), snug paint on supports for the pin. Config With v3 mount in your [probe_eddy_current btt_eddy] config use: x_offset: -16 y_offset: 11.5 BOM (parts needed) BTT Eddy (the Eddy needs to be removed from it's casing!) Some ABS/ASA to print, PETG might work (needs to be a bit heat resistent) 1x M3x20 (M3x18 might also work, to mount to the toolhead plate), for LOW see below 1-2x M2.5x5 -10 * (to fix the probe to the mount, will also work with a single screw! ), for LOW see below With v3, some glue (CA will work) LOW version can be mounted with a 12-15mm DIN912 M3 bolt, the head will sit within the mount (because otherwise the bolts will interfere with eachother) and can still mount the Eddy with a single 10-12mm M2.5 bolt. *note: use at least 1 buttonhead screw or a low profile (head) one so it will not interefere with the toolhead plate mounting screw. You can also just use 1 screw (and skip the hole closest to the toohead plate). Some useful information I currently run ‘ Eddy-ng ’ (see Eddy-ng wiki for install and questions) with the LOW mount, which taps the buildplate to calculate a more accurate z-offset. This also doesn't require you to do the whole temperature calibration. This seems to give much better results! Needs mainline Klipper to work. I run mainline Klipper on the SV08 (see: https://github.com/Rappetor/Sovol-SV08-Mainline). Klipper documentation about Eddy probes: https://www.klipper3d.org/Eddy_Probe.html). Original BTT Eddy documentation: https://github.com/bigtreetech/Eddy). NOTE!: The ‘z_offset’ you configure for the Eddy probe in Klipper means: the height from which it does the probing. Changing this setting does nothing for your first layer adjustment. See: https://www.klipper3d.org/Config_Reference.html#probe_eddy_current Changelog 2025-02-02 - Small fillet changes and the LOW version now sits 2mm lower to bring it more in line for use with Eddy-NG (tap) 2025-02-01 - Updated version and added a LOW variant which sits 2.5mm lower. 2024-08-29 - Published v3, which consists out of 2 pieces (glue together) to use another hole to keep the mount from rotating. (also added a single model of the v3 mount for those feeling adventurous with supports or different orientation). 2024-08-09 - Published the first (well second) version v2 of the mount.
