Description
In Star Trek The original Series, the tridimensional chess game was kitbashed from two other games, a 3d tic tac toe game for the 4x4 boards and the 2x2 attack boards came from “space checkers” another board game that was available in 1965 made by pleasentime. There are some shots in the original star trek series that show the game of “space checkers” being played by the crew. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Space_Checkers The version seen on Star Trek has the transparent small boards and tube supports that would later be changed to red. As with regular checkers, there are 12 black and 12 red pieces. The total number of squares is the same as with a regular 8x8 checkerboard. The whole thing should be thought of as a 4x4x4 cube split along the x and y axis into 4 towers to make it easier to get to the pieces and move them. I don't have one of these on hand to get everything screen accurate. I tried to use reference photos to get the logo as good as I know how, but I'm leaving that optional. rules are explained on the video linked here so to set this up you will need 12 small boards 12 rods (each rod stl file contains 6 so print it twice) and of course 12 red and 12 black pieces
