Description
The toy-like Staple Wizard is actually quite a good electric stapler. But there are two green bushes made of a soft plastic that always seem to denature over time and fall to pieces. At that point the stapler becomes temperamental and stops stapling properly. The bushes take the load when the pressure is placed on the staple to force it through the paper. Faced with throwing an otherwise device away or making some new bushes, I got stuck in with OpenSCAD. I've ended up with two bushes that fit perfectly and my stapler is now working very well. I suspect that the bushes should be printed in some semi-soft material to avoid stress on the main (plastic) frame, but in reality, the next failure will propbably be elsewhere and terminal, so I have won a few more years of use. I have included the OpenSCAD file in case anyone wants to tinker. -Jeremy
