Description

Happy to present my TR-590 Mk X tricorder kit! Update 1/28/24 - Added versions of the Body with built-in support feet that you can break off with pliers afterwards. They firmly hold the corners and edges down to prevent curling up. You still need to enable supports for the rest of the model. They worked well for me on a test print so sharing them as an option. Let me know if you need a better separation gap. Also fixed the inside of the hinge slots so they won't need supporting. ***Added flat-printing bodies that are split to have clean surfaces on front and back without requiring any supports. The split halves align with four connector pegs. This is the easiest way to print the model. Update 1/22/2024 - Lengthened the hand scanner, improved its groove details, and made its cap easier to attach. Adjusted the width of the medical body scanner bay and black insert to fit the new hand scanner. New parts are 2,9,12,13, and have v2 in the filename. There is a standard and medical version. Medical and standard graphics are included as svg and pdf file. Print graphics at original size (turn off any resizing in your printer settings). Trim as needed for best fit since its not perfect. The medical body has a printable black insert for the scanner bay so you don't have to paint it. The hand scanner and door have holes for 6x2mm magnets. The hinges require some care to remove the supports but even if you do break them they should still work being stacked in the slots. When printing the body and door I manually set support blockers inside the hinge slots to avoid having to clean them out. The hinges ended up fitting snugly, and using a small blade to clean up edges was all it took to get them to fit. Use supports for the main body, door, and hinges. Belt holster included. For a nice cloth-like surface, print the holster in prusaslicer with the ‘fuzzy skin’ feature enabled. Set ‘fuzzy skin thickness’ to .2 and set ‘fuzzy skin point distance’ to .4. To better secure the tricorder in the holster I added some layered strips of electrical tape inside to make a snug fit, and it also makes it sound less ‘plasticky’ when sliding it in and out. Display stand included. There is also a narrower stand base if you don't want the tag or to save space.
