Description
After 40 years I finally found a way to put the later style 3 Speed Tamiya wheels (or any others with the same mounting) on a first gen Hilux or Blazing Blazer. You keep the front locking hubs and they still work. Use the original wheel screws to secure the adapter to the hub, then use 3mm screws to hold the wheel to the adapter and a nut on the back. The drill guide helps in drilling out the center of the plastic wheel to allow the first gen wheel hub to pass though. Drill slowly with gentle pressure to create a clean hole, I drilled a size under and stepped up with a reemer and it looks like it was made that way. I had a set of P407 wheels that also fit my 1990s Mountaineer and they are great with this adapter. You do have to sort out the rest if you go with much taller tires. I used the black Ebay Bruiser leaf spring clones, Mountaineer style spring spring to axle spacers and slightly taller body mounts to clear the tires on the Axial 1/10 blazer body I chose. Allot more wheel options are possible now, please post your makes I would love to see what I didn't think of.
