Description

Allows for the installation of a Gotek floppy emulator in the laptop. The encoder and display are visible through the floppy bezel, the USB drive goes where the eject button was so a stubby one looks like the original button. After teardown remove the liner/shield. There are plastic nubs in the bottom of the case that have to be trimmed off. The opening of the bezel needs to be trimmed like in the picture and the inner raised area trimmed down so that the face of the adapter fits flush against the inside of the laptop shell. Desolder the USB socket and relocate it to the pocket on the adapter, same with the LED so it falls behind the one in the bezel. A bit of epoxy will hold both in place. I suggest using super glue to bond the faceplate to the lower plate. A drop of epoxy will lock the screen in place, friction fit is fairly tight and holds it well on its own but the glue backup is nice. The speaker sounds better if you use the speaker hole as a guide and drill a matching hole through the bottom of the case. A black rubber cap over the encoder is a nice touch. Please post your make and let me know if you have any issues or thoughts I might be able to refine it.
