Description
This bracket allows you to install a esp32 wifi modem into a Tandy 1110HD or 1100FD where the original dialup modem card went. Connect the RS232 GND/TX/RX lines to the serial port internally. The modem needs USB power as well, I used a USB cable and soldered the power and gnd directly to a 5v DCDC converter and fed that from the battery lead. The modem is powered with 5v on either battery power or when the power brick is plugged in. The existing 5v regulator on the motherboard does not have enough capacity (100-150mA, modem needs 250mA), even with the drives replaced with solid state drives. Trim or remove the metal shielding around the modem area, I just left the top shield and metal modem cover off.
