Description

DIY tent-pole-stand similar to the commercially available "Click-stand", really simple to make if you have access to some tent poles. Files here are the top and bottom pieces used for my stands. Please note: I used 11mm outer diameter tent poles, you'll have to scale the model if you want larger or smaller diameter. Used TPU, 95A hardness, 5 walls and 40% infill. My top piece conforms well to the different tube widths of our Krampus and Ogre bikes. Went for a 18 degree stand angle, so computing the length is merely a matter of dividing the vertical height from ground to where the stand will meet the top tube (close to the seat post) and dividing by 0.951. Remember to account for the ferrule length when you compute the length of each piece. Also the top piece will add another 1cm and the bottom piece 1.5cm, so retract those from the pole length. Went for a 5 piece stand, so mine are around 20 cm long when folded (5 cm ferrule on my tent poles). Holes in the accessories are suitable for a 3mm shock chord. Put a figure 8 knot or similar on one end, assemble the stand and pull reasonably taut before tying another knot in the other end. Some adjustment may be needed, pole should click in place once you drop the fragments holding the top segment. Of course remember to deburr the tent poles after cutting them, or else it will cut both you and the chock chord. As for straps for the front brake of the bike, I made a loop with a 5mm shock chord that I store with the stand. See cover photo.
