Description
This is a derived work from the Low Poly Bear model. The 25K model was upsampled in Meshlab. It has been processed by NetGen5.3 (or GSM 4.15) to create a tetrahedral FEM mesh (a tet mesh) inside and on the surface of the model. The tet mesh is exported in GMSH V2.X format. Using custom written code, all the edges of the tets are collected, sorted and duplicate edges are removed. The edges are Unioned together (as cylinders with spherical end caps) to produce a fully tetrahedral model. The model is then exported as an STL. I've included two different tetrahedral renderings: the 25k version is done with NetGen and the other is done with Gmsh. I would suggest printing this a tree supports BUT you might be successful printing without supports (due to the tetrahedral nature of the model). I was successful using support painting with tree support.
