Description
I wanted the ability to extend gridfinity off the back of my workbench to save precious workspace. By clamping the baseplate to the desk, it can cantilever off the back of the workbench by several units while the clamp itself is hidden underneath. The clamp is narrow enough to fit inside the empty space in most baseplates, so it can be mounted to the middle of a baseplate rather than just the edges. See the example photo where I have my clamp mounted through the middle of my baseplate, such that 2 units can hang off the back of my desk. Use multiple clamps for wider baseplates! I used the original model from jfuchs but replaced the socket with a 2x1 socket, added the magnet holes at the top, and narrowed the clamp in order to make space for the magnets. I laid the clamp down flat and printed with low density line supports. No supports required for anything else. To Do! Long and short variations of the clamp Long and short variations of the screw Reduce/eliminate the supports by shrinking the screw and threads so the whole clamp is a uniform width.
