Description
Made the longest octopus that would fit a 220mm x 220mm printbed. This model needs very long to slice (1-2min for me) so be patient. Its also a pretty hardcore benchmark since the small segments tend to get ripped of the build plate so here are some tips for printing that helped me print this (and also the original) octopus: Generally your printbed needs to be close to perfectly leveled, have a correctly calibrated z-offset and be clean. Its better to have the Z-Offset a little too close to the buildplate than too far. Higher bed temps help with layer adhesion (60-70 for PLA). Slightly higher flow at the first layer can also help (102-105%). Print at slow speeds (~30mm/s), especially TRAVEL SPEED. When the travel speed is to high it tends to pull off segments. I would highly advice against using brims since its a huge hustle to remove and the rests it leaves cause the tentacles to be less flexible and get stuck. In theory the model is more or less parametric so I should be able to accommodate a differently sized printbed. If there is enough interest I might make a smaller/larger version. The example printed in the pictures was printed using generic purple Geeetech PLA from Aliexpress .
