Description
This is a small and convenient tool to release the clips on throttle and control cables used on most lawn and garden equipment. Most cables are "right there" and easy to get to so you can just use a pair of needle nose pliers. However, this tool shines when trying to release a cable in tight areas like on big wheel string trimmers, brush mowers or riding mower blade engagement cables connected under the dash and behind the fuel tank. . To use: Pass cable through slit on front of tool. Gently pull on cable jacket. While pulling, push tool over clips to release cable. You might need to apply more force to pull the end completely free of the mounting hole. To install new cable be sure to install the Z-bend, eyelet or spring end of the cable before inserting the cable clips into mounting hole. I got the idea of creating this while watching a video on how to release the fuel filter on my truck using the little fuel line release tool. Earlier in the day I had a very difficult control cable to replace and the needle nose pliers just weren't doing the job. I eventually got the cable removed but it took about 30 mins of struggle and required a lot of cussing and busted knuckles. I printed this and tested it the following day and it released the cable effortlessly.
