Description
The original Nerf Torrent has a safety switch that prevents the trigger from being pulled. The RS2 however does not have a safety switch. It is a decently strong blaster that can still take an eye out if someone isn't wearing proper eye protection. This is my solution, a small little key that's pretty out of the way of the grip, and requires absolutely zero modification to the RS2 to add! It makes use of the small opening right by the back of the blaster behind the grip. When plugged in, it jams the trigger, making it unable to be pulled, and stopping it from coming into contact with the catch plate. Hardware: The diameter of the key-ring hole is 2.8mm You should just be able to insert a circular key ring through the hole after they safety key has been printed. I personally used this rectangular metal link I have a few of just lying around. I have no clue where I even got them from. These links are 2.6mm thick. I wouldn't recommend using anything higher than that as it may be a tight fit. For a closed ring like that, such as what I used or a closed D-ring, add a layer pause in your slicer right before it seals up the top of the hole, insert your closed ring, and then resume the print. Print Notes: The width of the key is 9.3mm. The hole in the back of the TRS2 however is 9.2mm wide (in software at least). This was done on purpose as I wanted the key to be nice and tight so it wouldn't get lost. However if you find this too tight, try one of the following solutions: Sand the sides of the key until it's to your preferred fit. Decrease the width of the model in your slicer by 0.5mm or 1mm and print again. If your key happens to be loose though. One, I have no logical explanation for that, lol. Two, simply reverse the second solution above, and instead slightly increase the width of the key in your slicer and print again. Hope you find this useful!
