Universal Plate/Picture Stand with Improved Base

Found with a heavy plate that I wanted to display that the original felt like the balance was off and could easily fall over when bumped. The updated files have the same naming convention, just with the addition of "Backstop" in the name. * Summary from DanRom624: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3852495 * Universal and simple plate or picture stand/holder, for displaying your decorative plates/pictures. This stand requires no hinges, no glue, no hassle ! Just scale down, slice, print and assemble. Easy ! It looks nice printed in brown PLA (see photos). I imagine it would be even better if printed in wood or gold filament. Important: The attached “PlateStand.stl” is bigger than the most 3D printers will be capable printing, as it is 10” (25cm) long It is suitable for big (!) plates, roughly 15” (38mm) diameter. Before slicing, just scale down the original .stl file to fit your needs. Example: If you need a stand for a 7” (18cm) diameter plate, print a 50% scaled down version of the original .stl, and you are good to go! To note: you should apply a “uniform scaling”, i.e. same percentage scaling on all X/Y/Z axes I strongly suggest you to print the right and the left sides of the stand separately. But don't forget applying the same scaling to both “PlateStand-R.stl” and “PlateStand-L.stl” files, before slicing ;-) The original .stl will work for square shaped pictures/frames as well, with a base roughly 12” (30cm) long THIS OBJECT IS COVERED BY CREATIVE COMMONS - ATTRIBUTION - NON-COMMERCIAL - SHARE ALIKE LICENSE.
