Description
I love the original Morse Code Paddle / CW Key that K6ARK made. I was trying to get the contact distances closer but had trouble with the pressure from my plastic springs not being enough. With magnetic returns I was able to get the contacts very close and still have them disengage quickly to help with my lack of CW skill. :) The result works really well for me. I removed the plastic springs and filled in the associated holes, then added spots to use some the zillions for neodymium magnets I had on hand from various AliExpress over-purchases. In this case 6 x 3mm. Follow the K6ARK Build and Parts guide with these exceptions: 2 x Neodymium magnets of the 6mm x 3mm size required. Only 2 set screws needed rather than 4 needed with the plastic springs original. Assembly Notes: Glue the magnets in the recessed areas on the arms taking care to ensure they are the right way around to repel each other. I know this guy who did it the wrong way once and didn't realize until he had mostly assembled everything. :) Easiest to do this glueing before any other assembly with the arms. I find a drop of 5 minute epoxy from dollar store works really well for magnets. Mix it with a toothpick and then use the toothpick tip to spread it on the bottom and sides of hole before adding the magnet. If you add too much you can wipe of the excess with a paper towel before it cures. Hope someone likes the mod as much as I do and thanks for any likes and downloads! VE7ZAX
