Description
Vixen dovetail mount for MTO-500 (ZM-5C) Soviet mirror lens. Perfect for astrophotography, telescope mounts, lunar & solar imaging. Secure your vintage lens with felt lining. Compatible with Vixen-style dovetail systems for astronomy setups. Vixen-compatible mount designed for the legendary Soviet mirror lens MTO-500 (ZM-5C). The mount consists of two parts that are joined together using four M3×12 screws. You will also need four M4 nuts, and dedicated hex pockets are included in the design. Update v2 Added a version of the top cap with an integrated mini Vixen / finder shoe for mounting a finder or solar finder. Includes a 5.6 mm hole for a brass threaded heat insert (M4×6×6) to securely fix the finder with an M4 screw. This adapter allows the lens to be mounted securely on Vixen-style dovetail systems, making it suitable for astronomy mounts, trackers, and astrophotography setups. My particular lens was manufactured in 1968 and reached me in near-perfect condition. Because of that, I wanted the mount to treat this beautiful piece of engineering with care. To protect the lens body from scratches, I applied felt or another soft lining material. In my case I used felt strips 28 mm wide with a thickness of approximately 1.7 mm. This mount makes it easy to use the MTO-500 in: astrophotography setups telescope mounts star trackers lunar and solar imaging A simple way to give classic vintage optics a second life in modern astronomy setups.
