Description
I've been a big rotary fan for a while, so I loved this model immediately. I did agree with a few people that had made it however that it would be better if the finger hole were larger, and if it didn't fall apart, so I spent a few minutes in OnShape making some adjustments to address these issues. I made the finger hole deeper, and also designed a snap ring and adjusted the eccentric shaft and housing to accept it so the whole thing is held together. I also added ports to the housing similar to what would be in a real 13b engine for those of us that might want to use the fidget to explain how a rotary engine works and would find having the ports as part of the model helpful. I've included files for the housing both with and without the ports, so you can choose how you prefer to print it. I also created supports as part of the model for the deeper finger hole and housing. These work great at 100%, but if you're shrinking down the model, the tolerances might become too tight to remove easily, so I've included versions of both the housing and eccentric shaft with and without supports as well. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
