Description
+++ Whistle Howler +++ It was my favorite sound toy in my childhood. My motivation was to recreate this instrument, which occurs in many songs as a funny sound effect. The sound is produced by literally cutting the air. The turbine therefore must rotate very quickly. At the same time, I wanted to make the whistle completly out of filament. After a lot of research and trying it finally works. To find a solution for the shaft of the turbine wheel was a challange… In the end I tried out a piece of filament (15 mm) and sharpen the ends by a lighter and my fingers. May be there are other methods to form tips but this was the fastes and easiest way to me. +++ Update 1 +++ The first version takes a lot of breath, so it is difficult to reach the high frequencies of the “whistle howler”. For this, I tested many versions to have more fun without completely taking your breath away. :) Version 1: “easy air - whistle howler” +++ Assembly Guide +++ Cut a piece of 1.75 mm filament to approximately 15 mm ( Update for Version 1: 12 mm ) 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media Now we need to form tips at the ends of the shaft. I have done it with a lighter. 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media You can use your fingers to form the tips. 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media The turbine wheel must then be mounted symmetrically to the shaft. I had to use glue to keep it in place. In the end, it should looks like in the pictures. The lid have to screwed very loosely, otherwise the turbine wheel would not spin. The tubine wheel needs to be adjusted from time to time. Now you can try, adjust and huiiiiiii. 📷 Image redacted — claim this model to add your own media **Print Instructions** Supports: No Resolution: 0.15mm Infill: 15%
