Wind Up Plane fully printable with toroidal propeller If you like it --> press like it :-) To be honest, i never had to do anything with planes. Because I like the idea with the Wind Up boat which shows what is possible with 3d prints I wanted to try a remix which flies. I modified some gears, arranged them different, designed the plane around them and remixed the toroidal propeller. After a few iterations i had a lightweight design which could be printed with nearly no supports(only at the cover) and a working gearbox. Because of the size it needs some time to print, but all parts which were possible are designed to be printed in vase mode. The wings(with wings 250 the total widht of the plane is 250mm) and the rear can be printed in vase mode if you print them with 60 bottom layers (0.2 layer height). They have to be assembled with printed pins which can even be removed. The cover has to be assembled under some tension. Put it in at the rear side, bend it a little and put it in at the front. It holds tight and without any other parts and is easy to remove. Took a lot of time to design, so i would be happy if a lot people download it to give some credit for my work. It is not perfect yet. If you have any improvement, just tell it to me and i will try to implement it. I ordered a metal spiral spring which matches from the size, so maybe there will be an update in future for that model to enable a longer lasting flight 😉 Would be happy to see your makes.
