Description
This remix of the Modular Winder Spool Holder by @STORM DESIGN addresses an issue I’ve experienced with the M3 screw unthreading during operation. The original design is excellent, but the forces involved when winding heavy spools or encountering snags can sometimes cause the screw to break free, even with the use of permanent thread locker. To solve this, I have created a hexagonal axle that keys into the gear-25 and spool-axle components, ensuring that the screw won’t back out during operation. While many users have no issue with the original design, this modification is intended for those who have encountered the specific issue mentioned. There is one heat-set insert to add (see pictures). Hardware: 1pc - M3 x 35mm Socket Cap Screw 1pc - M3 Heat-Set Insert 1pc - Bearing 6200 2RS Print: 1pc - Hex_Spool_Axle.stl 1pc - Hex_Gear_25.stl 1pc - Hex_Axle.stl - printed on its side so that the layers will better resist the force. 2pcs - Hex_Washer_25 Use the same print settings as the original: Material : Gear 25 with Sleeve for Single Bearing.stl - Each Rigid Filament (I use ASA) REST : Any Layer Height : 0.2mm Speed : All Max 60 for Gear 25 with Sleeve for Single Bearing.stl, Spool Axle.stl and Axle Lock.stl - In this case, the precision of printing matters REST : Any Infill : 100% (Tip - if you want to save filament, print the lower part of the Spool Axle.stl and Axle Lock.stl with 20% infill - and print everything above with 100% infill) Wall Loops : 4 Bottom Layers : 4 Top Layers : 4 Brim : No Brim Auto : No (Be sure to disable Brim Auto. When printing in color Axle Lock.stl with Brim Auto on, it may cause a problem on the first layer)
