Description

This is the second part of my large project to wrangle an overly large Zombicide collection into a more streamlined storage system. The goals are to consolidate shelf space, speed up set up and teardown, and make it easier to use all of the varied content. This part focuses on all of the components that are shared across the different sets that will be required for any game you play. This means storage for the most common tokens (those that are not part of a specific mission or timeline) and all of the many hundreds of cards. Supported Sets This is designed to support a full set of 1st edition (updated to 2nd edit, see links section), 2nd edition, Black Plague, Green Horde, White Death, Undead or Alive and Invader, with all the various Kickstarter exclusive and retail expansions. It is modular in the sense that you do not need to own all of these sets to make use of it and in theory it will work with other settings like Super Heroes or the upcoming Fantasy Flight set(s), I just don't (and likely won't) own these to test. Instructions This insert is designed to fit inside a box the same size as the core Black Plague box. You should also be able to use other boxes like Green Horde or any of the modern core boxes. The insert is large but pretty easy to print. You will need to print the following: One of each token tray (A, B, Setup). The setup token tray is used to store the common things used in most games like spawn zones, crates, objectives, etc... You will have lots of extra tokens if you own everything so just keep a single set for the tray and put any extras in a spare box or recycle them for some other purpose. The setup tray does support either plastic or cardboard tokens. Either one full size player tray holder or two copies of the split, half size tray. 12 player token trays. You can use whichever style you want, I did half of the trays with dice for the standard colors and then another 6 to store the more unique colors from various special sets. The circle spot for the mini base can fit both a fantasy zombicide style base as well as the newer 2nd ed version. These trays are designed to hand out to each player/survivor to greatly speed up their setup. Underneath the player trays, there are shallow trays on the carrier itself. I use this to store some of the larger mini bases and a few other random tokens. Fill them with whatever you want. 8 card trays and 2 of the smaller card trays. You will place the 8 full size trays in the bottom of the box. The two smaller ones are slightly less deep so they can fit next to the tokens and the player tray holder. I split my sets up using these and printed them in different colors based on setting. I need 3 standard 1 one small for modern, 3 standard for fantasy, 1 standard for western and 1 standard and 1 small for sci-fi. Card dividers. Print as many as you want, but I went with about 2 per card tray to make it so cards don't tend to fall over when large chunks are removed for gameplay. Notes For the cards, I got rid of all the duplicative content such as the separate abomination/necromancer spawn deck cards (in favor of the White Death separate abom/necro decks). I also do not store the basic equipment decks for modern because I see no reason to use them. The advanced decks work fine either way (what a waste of cards :( ). There is theoretically room for more cards, even with a pretty complete collection (especially if you don't sleeve), so it is entirely up to you what to do with those cards. The setup token tray has space for the various different special types of spawn zones but since there is virtually no difference between the basic ones across settings, I went with the ones I liked the best and stored all the extras in a separate box. The large spaces in this tray can be used for any additional tokens you want to keep in it and may even provide space for some future content. I have no plans to buy the super hero sets so I will not be able to make content for those as part of this storage. However, I'm happy to share any of the Tinerkcad project files if you want to create your own, just let me know. Pro-tip. If you organize your cards right, you can just set the card trays on the table during setup and use dividers to separate the spawn decks from a discard and similar for items. This makes setup and teardown even faster. Links Classic to 2nd Edition (by Fjplayer22): https://zombicidefans.com/?s=classic+to+2nd&post_type=post The classic to 2nd edition work done by Fjplayer22 is phenomenal. It will make almost all of your unusable 1st edition tiles, missions and items usable in 2nd edition. It's like having several new full box expansions. This insert is designed to fully support the content from it.
